Lenten Faith mentoring

Lenten Faith mentoring is part of the 9th grade/third year Confirmation here at St. John. It pairs individual youth with individual adults of the congregation in order to discuss faith and life issues, while experiencing the Lenten journey together.

Mentors play an important role in the “gelling” process of each child’s growth in faith. No special training or background is required of a faith mentor other than to attend the orientation meeting on Wed., March 9 at 6:15 PM along with the student and his/her parent(s). During Lent March 16 – April 13 each faith mentor will meet with his or her student after each Lenten service to have a guided discussion on how to relate the Christian faith to everyday life and to discuss the Lenten service together.

Kids need other adults in addition to their parents, teachers, and pastors with whom they can talk about faith and life issues. They need people like you. Adults they can trust. Adults with whom they can talk. Adults who will listen. And adults who are not afraid of sharing their own dreams and struggles in putting Christianity into practice in the real world.
If you would like to be a mentor but have not been asked, please call Pastor Tom Koelln at 763-856-4561 for more information or to volunteer. Consideration packets are available in the church office with more details about the program.
