C.A.E.R. - (Community Aid Emergency Relief) We actively support CAER, located in Elk River, MN. We collect food, make quilts, walking in the CROPwalk, give cash donations, and each Christmas, our cap and mitten tree fills to keep children and adults warm. Once a month we have a free will offering for CAER during our worship service. Members of our congregation also volunteer at CAER during their hours of operation.
Some Facts to CAER about:
On average CAER serves 200 families per month. CAER distributed 152,054 pounds of food to over 9,000 people last year. About half of those were children.
Pre-priced bags of groceries are available at both Cub Foods and Coborn's as donations for CAER. This is a convenient service and the bags are extremely reasonably priced at $3, $5 and $7.
Coupons are also available for shoppers at checkout and are offered at $1, $2 and $3. These coupons go to CAER in the form of cash donations.
Both Cub Foods and Coborn's have barrels to deposit non-perishable food donations for CAER.
First National Bank of Elk River and The Bank of Elk River will enclose mailing envelopes for customers in their monthly bank statements for customers to donate cash.
Cash donations are needed as well as non-perishable food items. Cash donations enable CAER to purchase fresh meat, dairy, produce, and other low stock items.
Last year, CAER spent more than $25,400 to buy food. Another $24,000 was used to help people with emergency financial needs.
